Dish Network or Direct Tv: Who is the Better Satellite Provider
The two main companies that are going head to head for customers these days are Dish Network and Direct TV. Each company is growing rapidly each and every year, with no end in sight. Both companies also offer a large variety of services, equipment, and additional programming to fit each customer’s specific needs. For this reason it is impossible to tell you which company is perfect for you without knowing for personal preferences.
For many people the selection of services are based on the type of budget you are working with. Both Direct TV and Dish Network have packages that are designed to fit your family’s needs. The only way to know for sure which company and package is right for you is to do some research and find out what each company is offering you.
Direct TV and Dish Network both offer you one hundred percent digital sound and video. Each year Direct TV manages to get more subscribers than Dish Network, but they both have more than ten million satisfied customers. Find out why every year thousands of people are switching over from cable to satellite TV.
Next to price the programming selection that is offered by your TV service provider is an important factor. Both companies offer literally hundreds of channels that include your favorite local channels as well. Direct TV is the way to go if you are a sports freak because they have basically dominated the sports programming world. Direct TV offers the largest selection of sports programming. You can enjoy NBA League, MLB Extra Innings, NY Yankee Games, NFL Sunday Ticket, and the NHL Center Ice.
Dish Network is the way to go if you are into foreign language programming because they offer a larger number of programming in both foreign and International languages than any other TV service provider. All foreign language programming options include English programming as well to help those who want to learn English.
You are able to get Direct TV anywhere in the United States unless you live in Albuquerque, Grand Rapids, Honolulu, and Oklahoma City. Dish Network is available anywhere in America except for Baltimore, Columbus, Las Vegas, Memphis, and Milwaukee.
You can expand your services to the Internet offers than both Direct TV and Dish Network are offering their customers. Dish Network is offering their customers a DSL Internet connection. DSL is so much faster than standard dial-up, there is no way you could ever use it again once you upgrade to DSL.
Another awesome device that both Direct TV and Dish Network are offering their customers is a form of a digital video recorder. This device allows the user to digitally record and store about seventy hours of your favorite games, movies, or other programming. With this device you can record one show while watching another, or even record two shows simultaneously. The DVR also allows you to pause live television to deal with interruptions. You will never have to miss a play or scene again!

Design A Better Brand Experience
A brand is more than just a ubiquitous logo and a catchy slogan. The most successful brands don’t merely denote people, places or things, they create an experience. The quality of the experience people have interacting with your company, products and services is the most influential factor in determining whether or not they’ll be repeat customers and recommend you to others.
Design gives form, function and character to that brand experience. According to author and business management guru, Tom Peters, ”The dumbest mistake is viewing design as something you do at the end of the process as opposed to understanding it’s a day-one issue and part of everything.” Why? Because design is inherent in all facets of business. Design is the common denominator that shapes the physical space of your office or retail environment as well as establishes the dependability of your products and services. Design takes form in the pleasing tactile sensation of a marketing brochure or the thoughtful functionality of a user-friendly web site interface. Design is the tangible appearance of attractive packaging and the intangible ease of filling out a logically formatted order form. Design is the impetus of the branded experience, and no detail should be overlooked.
You’re Never Too Small To Think Big
On the surface, Starbucks coffee and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles may seem far removed from your business. Their stories are relevant to entrepreneurs because though each started small, both leveraged the power of design to create unique consumer experiences that have become indelibly branded into our culture.
Starbucks: Brewing A Brand
Not long ago coffee was simple; 99¢ in any diner or café could buy a bottomless cup – straight black or cream and sugar. Today it’s a $5 Venti, foamy, ristretto, doppio expresso con panna cappuccino in the cozy confines of the neighborhood Starbucks. Suddenly a mundane everyday item is hip and new again. So, how did this modest start-up from Seattle grow to become North America’s leading retail coffee purveyor? By making design a part of everything – from the shapes, colors, and textures of their stores, to the presentation of their products and employees. Starbucks isn’t simply coffee, it’s a carefully designed coffee experience.
“Retail is detail,” says chairman and CEO Howard Schultz. “All our design, whether it’s a packaged food or a new mug, needs to make sense and tell what we’re about.” And, what Starbucks is about is coffee, community, and quality. Starbucks realized long before their imitators that design plays a decisive role in creating experiences for consumers seeking to identify themselves via brands. Across the board, the experience at Starbucks is in the design. All consumer touchpoints from coffee labels, shopping bags, product displays, gift cards, and shareholder communications, to retail lighting, seating, fixtures, building materials, and even the ordering process, are thoughtfully designed to convey casual, artsy comfort with an approachable sophistication.
Recent setbacks brought about by overly-aggressive expansion during a turbulent global economy have slowed Starbucks quest for world domination. But through it all the company’s ability to leverage the power of design has kept consumer communications focused and brand equity robust.
Harley-Davidson: Living The Brand
As one of the most revered American icons of the 20th century, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles are the rumbling, ground-shaking epitome of branded experience.
Founded in Milwaukee, in 1901, Harley-Davidson rode a wave of innovation and success to become the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world by 1920. But, by the mid 1980s the company was suffering from the lowest product quality rating in the industry, corporate disarray, and an outlaw biker stigma that didn’t appeal to mainstream consumers. That’s when a group of marketing-savvy investors came on board and revved up to reinvent the brand.
This pragmatic team understood that just as when engineering a motorcycle you must consider the rider, when designing a brand you must consider the consumer. So, they put the rubber to the road, so to speak, and attended rallies where they took photos, listened to stories, and began to develop a full-dimensional picture of the brand heritage as articulated directly by the consumers. Immediately, a new premium was placed on design. From the time-honored bikes themselves to internal corporate communications, to advertising, and the plethora of merchandising spin-offs, everything was re-designed to emphasize the rugged individualism and free-spiritedness that now defines the Harley mystique.
In the ensuing years the company has successfully rebranded the Harely experience for everyone, including middle-aged, white-collar professionals looking to get in touch with their inner “easy rider.” These RUBs, or Rich Urban Bikers, (and you know who you are), are buying into the (weekend) lifestyle and buying everything from motorcycles to branded infant MotorClothesTM. Owning a Harley has always meant being part of a brotherhood, but no longer the once perceived fraternal order of beer drinkers and hell raisers. Joining the Harley Owners Group (otherwise known as becoming a H.O.G.) is less about buying a bike and more about embracing a unique reality. Consumers continue to play an important part in shaping that reality and evolving the brand by perpetuating and redefining the experience. Few brands evoke such passion and loyalty – or have resulted in so many logo tattoos. Focusing on design – in both product and branding – and directly connecting and evolving with their consumer are how the Harley brand has endured for more than 100 years.
Experiencing The Rewards
Starbucks and Harley Davidson each started out as small, local businesses and have grown into globally recognized cultural icons. Take a cue from them and some of the other most successful brands in the world who have made design an integral part of their core business model. Use design to connect with consumers and provide them with a rewarding brand experience, and they’ll reward you in return.

Betting On Baseball Has Never Been Better
July 31, 2006 (Toronto, Canada) – The road show in Ohio has come to a halt and I am back north of the border where former NFL running back Ricky Williams is once again passing the time not playing football. With less than a month to go ‘till the start of the College Football season and with the NFL right behind the kids, bettors are rubbing their hands in gleeful anticipation.
Before we get zoned in to the football scene, I would be remiss if I did not give kudos to major league baseball which has become the definition of parity in sports. Every time you think you have a team pegged as a contender or on the verge of being eliminated from the race, the tide turns drastically.
Last week, I suggested to readers that the St. Louis Cardinals were set to soar-off away from their competitors in the NL Central as they were getting healthy and had played excellently on a recent West Coast swing. They were heading to Wrigley Field this past weekend for a four game set with the inept Cubs. Chicago was a heavy dog in this series and, wouldn’t you know it, they took a huge bite out of the Cards by sweeping the four game series.
Meanwhile, out west in San Francisco the Giants seemed poised for a long and lengthy battle with their California rival the San Diego Padres. After taking two of three from them and beginning the week in a virtual tie for the lead, Felipe and his men headed east for dates with the Nationals and the lowly Bucs of Pittsburgh who dropped six in a row.
Arizona was in Houston on the weekend and the over was the wager in this series as the bookend games in the three game set saw 15 runs scored Friday and 13 on Saturday by two teams that have a hard time scoring runs. Could someone please tell me how the Milwaukee Brewers can go 4-6 in their past 10 games, yet suddenly find themselves ahead of Roger Clemens’ Astros and only 8 ½ back of the Cards?
Okay, I will finally put the final nail in the coffin for the Atlanta Braves who have 14 straight post season appearances and will probably watch the playoffs from a couch instead of a bullpen. The injuries are mounting and the lack of depth on the roster is finally getting the best of Bobby Cox. Their home record of 22-28 is atrocious considering the great fans that flock to the stadium and then the Mets embarrassed them this past weekend. Actually, including their loss to the Marlins on Thursday the Braves were outscored 33-14 in the past 4 games!
The Tigers are simply a special team as they headed to Minnesota this past weekend and most handicappers thought the Twins might ambush them. On Friday, they had to face the incredible talent of Francisco Liriano and they hung around long enough to win in the 10th. Considering that the Twins had not lost two games in a row at home since May 14th, bettors were all over the home side. Once again, the Tigers rewarded their faithful with an 8-6 triumph.

ist Your Business in the Milwaukee Business Directory for Better Results
If you run a business in Milwaukee you know how tough things are right now. Placing your business into the Milwaukee business directory is just good sense. People are holding on to their money tighter than ever, so if they are going to spend it on something, they may as well spend it with you. Putting your company in a local directory increases your odds of being seen, and that attracts customers.
No one wants to spend advertising dollars unnecessarily. Adding your company name and information to a national database of businesses is a hit or miss proposition. You are likely to be listed so far down in the database that you may as well not exist at all. These databases are often ranked based on the number of hits your company gets; if you are a small business, or a start up, no one has heard of you, so why would they search you out? No, you best bet is being a big fish in a small pond, and that means local.
Local directories are eager for your business. They want to promote their local clientele, because it makes them more successful as well. You get individual service, better pricing and an overall better experience than working with the big guys. Online directories have a major advantage over book directories. If an error is made in your ad, as happened to me once, you have to live with it for a full year if you are in a book. Online, the database manager goes in and changes the error immediately. What a relief to know that you can count on being portrayed in the right light.
A Milwaukee business directory is available online, right now. You can add your information to it and see results right away. Why not give it a try?

What Is A Better School, Marquette University Or Bradley University?
I am thinking about either going to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
What do you think is a better school? Like education, student life, etc.
Any reviews about either school would be much appreciated.
Also a place where I can find many student reviews.
I am going into civil engineering.
